Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, the word ‘class’ refers to any booking of a single class, workshop, short course, term course and/or any single class within a short course or term course.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
The Makers Nook reserves the right to amend or cancel a class or schedule at any time.
Due to small classes, we have a strict 14 day cancellation policy. If you cancel your class with less than 14 days notice, we may be able to offer you a limited credit (on single-day classes only, excluding private events) but we will not be able to provide a refund under any circumstances.
Cancellations within seven (7) days of your class date will result in no refund and no credit transfer under any circumstances. You are welcome to send someone else in your spot. Please let us know if you choose to do so.
The Makers Nook cannot accept responsibility for changes to student’s personal circumstances that prevent attendance.
Should a class be cancelled by The Makers Nook for any reason, any student enrolled in that class will be contacted and offered a full refund or a credit toward a future class.
Payment of Fees
Class fees are listed with the class details on our website. Your booking is not secured until we have received full payment, unless otherwise arranged.
The easiest and fastest way to secure a spot is to book and pay via this website. All payments are processed securely using the Stripe payment gateway. The Makers Nook does not see or retain card details.
Cancellations and Transfers
If you notify us more than 14 days before your class or course, you may cancel and receive a full refund less a $10 administration fee.
For cancellations of single day classes and workshops only – If you notify us at least seven (7) days before your class date, you may be offered a credit transfer. Credit transfers must be used within eight (8) weeks of your original class date. We will not extend the credit if no suitable/preferred classes are scheduled during the eight weeks. Cancellations within seven (7) days of your class date will receive no refund and no credit transfer under any circumstances. This is due to our small class sizes and it being unlikely that we will be able to fill your spot in the timeframe.
For cancellations of multi-day classes/workshops/courses – if you notify us within 14 days or less of your start date, we are unable to offer a refund or credit transfer under any circumstances. This is due to requiring a longer timeframe to fill multi-day class spots.
For any class that you are unable to receive a refund or credit for, you are welcome to send someone else in your spot. Please advise us via email ahead of time of the name of the person attending in your place. hello@themakersnook.com.au
Missed Classes
It is your responsibility to keep track of your enrolment dates and times. The Makers Nook will not send out reminders of your booking.
If you miss a class, a refund, credit or make-up class will not be offered.
Private Events
Initial $100 deposit must be received by the due date on your invoice to secure your booking. Final balance must be received by the due date to retain your booking.
Initial deposit is non-refundable once paid.
Cancellations 28 days or more before event date are refundable, less $100 deposit.
Cancellations 15-27 days before event date are eligible for a 50% refund, or a full credit less $100 deposit that must be used within eight (8) weeks of the original event date.
Cancellations 14 days or less before event date will receive no credit or refund under any circumstances.
If you do not meet payment due dates as per your booking invoice, The Makers Nook reserves the right to cancel your booking and apply the above refund policy.
General Terms
Attire and Fingernails
Students are advised to wear clothing that they do not mind getting dirty or stained. Enclosed footwear is recommended for all classes.
Long fingernails can be difficult when working with clay. The Makers Nook strongly recommends fingernails be trimmed short for all clay classes.
Sickness/Illness
The Makers Nook is a small studio and students are expected to consider the wellbeing of their peers and tutors in relation to sickness/illness. If you are feeling unwell, please consider if it is appropriate for you to attend class. A student who is actively coughing or sneezing cannot attend class and will be asked to leave.
The Makers Nook takes no responsibility for missed classes due to sickness or illness. A refund, credit or make-up class will not be offered. You are welcome to send someone else in your place.
Student and Parent/Caregiver Conduct
The Makers Nook is a shared space and we want everyone to enjoy their time here. We expect students to respect fellow students, tutors, artwork and property.
When using materials and equipment, students are required to observe and follow the instructions available relating to cleaning, handling and storing.
Parents/Caregivers, please ensure you advise us of any updates to emergency contact details for children. All kids and youth classes are ‘drop and run’ due to our small studio space. There are several cafe’s and restaurants close to The Makers Nook if you want to remain close-by.
Student Artworks and Storage
The Makers Nook accepts no responsibility for the outcome of student ceramics. Clay is a fickle medium. We treat every piece made with care during handling, glazing and firing. Sometimes things crack, explode, detach, or end up with glaze defects (even seasoned potters have this issue!). This is the nature of ceramics and the raw materials involved in the craft. We do no offer refunds or credits for classes where a ceramic piece has not turned out as hoped – you are paying for the experience, not the final piece.
It is the student’s responsibility to collect their own artwork. We will email you when your artworks are ready to be collected. If you miss this email for any reason, it it your responsibility to reach out to us via email and find out when you can collect. We will hold finished art and ceramics at the Nook for 4 weeks after we have first notified you to collect. After this time, we may discard or donate your artworks due to limited storage space.
Discrimination and Inappropriate Behaviour
Discrimination on the grounds of a person’s age, race, sex, gender, sexuality, marital status, physical or intellectual disability, or religion will not be tolerated. Any discriminatory, inappropriate, disruptive, abusive or threatening behaviour may result in removal from the class. In this instance a refund will not be provided.
Liability
The Makers Nook and its employees are not liable or responsible for any accidental injury to students or any loss or damage to personal possessions.
Prices
All prices are quoted in Australian Dollars ($AUD), and are subject to change without notice.
If an item is listed at an incorrect price, we reserve the right to refuse, cancel or limit any booking placed at the incorrect price.
GIFT VOUCHERS
Gift vouchers can be used to ‘purchase’ any class, workshop or course listed on our website. The total value of the voucher may be redeemed across multiple transactions. Gift vouchers have a three year expiry from the date of purchase.
Any class, course or workshop ‘purchased’ using a voucher is subject to the same Terms and Conditions listed here. In the event of a class cancellation, no cash refunds will be given. If you are eligible for a refund, your original voucher code will be reimbursed to the same value.
The Makers Nook cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen gift vouchers. We recommend you keep your voucher code safe until the value has been redeemed in full.
CREATIVE KIDS VOUCHERS
The Makers Nook is a registered Creative Kids Provider. If you would like to redeem a voucher up to the value of $50, please complete the following:
- To book using a voucher, simply add classes to your cart, then use coupon code CREATIVEKIDS to deduct $50 from your cart total. You must then ADD YOUR VALID 10-DIGIT VOUCHER CODE TO THE CHECKOUT COMMENT BOX. If you do not add a valid voucher code, your booking will be cancelled. Please make sure to double check your code before checking out.
- If you have multiple children needing to use a voucher, please book them in separately as the discount code will only deduct $50 total from the order (a single voucher).
As per the government conditions for the program, vouchers are not transferable to other kids, they must be used in one transaction, and cash change or refunds cannot be given once a voucher has been redeemed. Creative Kids Vouchers cannot be retrospectively applied if you have already paid.
If a class you have booked with a creative kids voucher is cancelled by The Makers Nook, we will issue you a credit transfer to the value of the original class booking only.
Booking on behalf of others
It is the responsibility of the person booking a class to inform any student/s they book on behalf of, of our terms and conditions.
